The 55th Annual Conference of the German Society for Biomedical Engineering https://www.bmt2021.de/ took place in Hanover from 5 to 7 October.
Biomedizinische Technik (BMT) is a global forum for biomedical technology professionals to share knowledge. Within the framework of the joint Ukraine-German research project “Implementation of Rapid Prototyping for Modeling the Upper Airways in Normal and Typical Pathologies” funded by BMBF and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Yana Nosova and Maxim Timkovich, together with their German colleagues, presented the report Validation of a solvent-based process for the smoothing of additively manufactured 3D models of nasal cavities.
To improve the reliability of diagnostics of nasal breathing disorders, it is necessary to analyze the aerodynamic properties of 3D models. The aim of this work was to test solvent-based smoothing methods for 3D models and to analyze surface roughness.
The abstracts of the report were published in a special issue of the journal Biomedical Engineering / Biomedizinische Technik https://www.degruyter.com/journal/key/bmte/66/s1/html
Congratulations to our researchers early in their careers, and we hope that interactions with outstanding scientists as well as experts from leading biomedical technology companies will inspire new research and new contacts for international collaboration.
