The Ninth ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: womENcourage™ 2022 was held from September 21 to 23, 2022, with the support of ACM-W Europe. The 2022 conference was organized in Larnaca, Cyprus, at the University of Central Lancashire, UCLan CYPRUS).
WomENcourage celebrations are open to participants of any gender, but are mainly dedicated to women who associate their educational and professional activities with computer technology. WomENcourage has been held since 2014 and was initiated by ACM-W Europe, and the main goal is to bring women together in different technical professions and disciplines and to encourage them to pursue education and careers in computing and information technology. The theme of the 2022 conference is Drawing New Lines in Science. This year’s ACM womENcourage 2022 notes that both art and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) have a common focus on creative thinking, problem solving, and experimental, deep learning. The connection of the arts to STEM, often referred to as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), is noted.

The students of two educational levels of BME Department listened to a lecture “Prosthetics of functions of human organs in modern medicine” given by Vitaliy Balyak, medical anesthesiologist, Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Kiev City Hospital No. 10 (City Center of Surgery of Liver, Bile Ducts and Pancreas). The anesthesiologist reported on the types and devices for replacement of lost human functions: artificial lung ventilation, hemodialysis, albumin dialysis, varieties of ECMO, blood purification and oxygenation systems, extracorporeal liver systems, etc.

On 21-22 September, 2022 the Annual Scientific and Practical Conference of the Ukrainian Society of Radiation Oncologists with the participation of international experts “Topical Issues of Radiation Oncology in Ukraine” was held in Lviv, organized by the Ukrainian Society of Radiation Oncologists, National Cancer Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the State Institution “The Institute of Medical Radiology and Oncology named after S.P. Grigoriev of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (IMRO), the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the State Institution “Oncology in Ukraine. S.P. Grigoriev NAMS of Ukraine (IMRO), Ministry of Health of Ukraine, UDIN IZOTOP State Enterprise, Ukrainian Society of Nuclear Medicine Specialists, P.L. Shupyk National University of Public Health of Ukraine, Lviv Regional State Administration Main Health Department, Lviv Regional Oncology Diagnostic and Treatment Center CNP LRC.
The main program issues were: radiotherapy diagnosis in oncology, technical re-equipment of radio-oncology institutions in Ukraine, the use of modern innovative radiotherapy technology, quality assurance of radiation oncology, radiobiology expertise and radiobiological support of radiotherapy. L. Averyanova, associate professor of Department of BME, made a report “State and problems of functioning of radiotherapy service of Ukraine in military conditions”, presenting the results of joint work with leading specialists of IMRO, which is the profile scientific and educational base of Department of BME. L. Averyanova was the only attendee from the entire Kharkiv region. The report highlighted the urgent problems of technical re-equipment of radiotherapy centers in Ukraine, the peculiarities of organizing their work under martial law, based on the IMRO experience.

MOVEs is a project aimed at organizing an effective Virtual Exchange Program as a platform for professional and intercultural interaction, exchange of experiences, to provide high-quality educational services and create conditions for the development of cooperation and communication skills of young people and increase access to international learning for every student, regardless of their circumstances, which is especially important at a time when student mobility is limited.

We continue the series of classes “Introduction to IT speciality 121 Software Engineering (Software Engineering)” in the direction of “The basics of Linux architecture” from the Software Engineering Department of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics. During the summer months (July-August) there were eight classes, in which the students had time to get acquainted with Linux and consider its architecture in practice on a separate server.
