Since the beginning of the war, the Twinning Initiative has brought together more than 80 British and Ukrainian universities. Now this network will be expanded to include German universities. For example, the Department of BME at the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics continues its fruitful cooperation with the Leibniz University, Hannover. W. Leibniz University, Hannover, Germany. The result was the submission of a joint application for funding from the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD for the project “Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis (2022).
The project is coordinated by Professor Oleg Avrunin and involves two master’s students and two postgraduate students of the Department of BME. Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine is having a devastating effect on Ukrainian education and science. The goal of the program is to support Ukrainian higher education institutions in the development and implementation of their digital courses with the support of partners from Germany. As a result, Ukrainian education applicants and scientists will have the prospect of continuing their studies and academic careers despite the war. A total of 73 projects will be funded this year, including 3 projects with the participation of NURE.
The Open Education Resources with Ukraine (OER with Ukraine) project brings together four institutions:
- TIB-Leibniz Informationszentrum Technik (Deutschland).
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
- Ukraine State University of Science and Technology.
- Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics.
The main objectives of the project are to further develop and digitize the current set of courses in times of crisis, giving a perspective to teachers and students, both those who were forced to leave, and those who remained in Ukraine. The project is aimed at creating and adapting training video content for a Ukrainian audience, which is necessary in terms of distance learning.
We thank the representatives of the International Office of the W. Leibniz University, Hannover and project coordinators Plank Margret and Natalia Butich and wish all participants fruitful cooperation and successful implementation of the project!
