25.09.2022

The Ninth ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: womENcourage™ 2022 was held from September 21 to 23, 2022, with the support of ACM-W Europe. The 2022 conference was organized in Larnaca, Cyprus, at the University of Central Lancashire, UCLan CYPRUS).

WomENcourage celebrations are open to participants of any gender, but are mainly dedicated to women who associate their educational and professional activities with computer technology. WomENcourage has been held since 2014 and was initiated by ACM-W Europe, and the main goal is to bring women together in different technical professions and disciplines and to encourage them to pursue education and careers in computing and information technology. The theme of the 2022 conference is Drawing New Lines in Science. This year’s ACM womENcourage 2022 notes that both art and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) have a common focus on creative thinking, problem solving, and experimental, deep learning. The connection of the arts to STEM, often referred to as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), is noted.

WomENcourage brings together students, graduate students, researchers, scientists and engineers not only from Europe but also from all over the world to present and share their achievements and experiences, and discuss contemporary issues in IT professions.
