Scientists of the IKI Department took part in the Eighth International Conference womENcourage 202130.09.2021
From September 22 to 24, 2021, with the support of ACM-W Europe, the Eighth International Conference ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: womENcourage ™ 2021 was held, which is held virtually for the second year in a row in connection with the pandemic. In 2021, the coordination of the conference was organized in Prague (Czech Republic) by the Czechitas community .
The womENcourage celebrations are open to participants of any gender, but are mainly dedicated to women who associate their educational and professional activities with computer technology. womENcourage has been running since 2014 and is initiated by ACM-W Europe, and its main goal is to unite women from various technical specialties and disciplines, as well as to encourage them to obtain education and a profession in the field of computer technology and information technology. Theme of the 2021 conference: Bridging Communities to Foster Innovation.
This year’s ACM womENcourage 2021 celebrates all efforts to bring communities together to foster innovation. To this end, numerous discussions and roundtables were held to cross the boundaries between different disciplines, industry and academia, as well as to establish links between IT communities with the involvement of participants of all genders, nationalities and ages for joint activities. The following reports and discussions attracted special attention:
– Attracting, retaining, encouraging, and inspiring women to pursue a career in Computer Science – a Norwegian best practice.
– Opportunities for Women in STEM Post-Covid.
– Industry Case Studies – Bridging the Gap between Researchers and Practitioners.

– Our (cyber) secure future.
– EUGAIN Roundtable: Path Towards PhD and Successful Academic Career.
WomENcourage brings together students, graduate students, researchers, scientists and engineers not only from Europe but also from around the world to present and share their achievements and experiences, and also discuss current issues of women in the IT professions.
