Accumulated experience from many years of developing study programs in cooperation with European partners has enabled the AI Department to join the implementation of the project “Artificial Intelligence Skills Alliance – ARISA“, No. 101056236, funded by the Erasmus+ programme under the action “Alliances for Innovation”.
The project aims to deliver AI knowledge and skills across Europe and Ukraine, empowering individuals to understand, design, and utilize human-centered, trustworthy AI-based solutions. The implementation of this project will fast-track the upskilling and reskilling of employees, job seekers, business leaders, and policymakers into AI-related professions, thereby opening Europe to new business opportunities.

On May 31, the traditional annual presentation of Ukrainian-French student business projects was held, concluding the cycle of the international entrepreneurship program European Virtual Venture. Students from the Artificial Intelligence Department at NURE and Graduate Engineering School ECAM-EPMI from Cergy, France, presented their business plans of startups to the expert jury (potential investors), focusing on developing intellectual products and services for agriculture, finance, healthcare, and city transport.
Among this year’s jury members was an innovation manager from the Technology Transfer Office of Coimbra University (Portugal), renowned for its successful cooperation with the business sector and support for technological spin-off companies. The University of Coimbra is a longstanding partner of the AI Department within the projects in capacity building of higher education.

The ongoing war in Ukraine requires the mobilization of all economic resources to face global challenges and ensure sustainable development. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine by russia and transformation of Kharkiv into frontline city did not cancel the requirements and needs for achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, but it completely changed the concept of sustainability.

Even in the difficult times of military aggression and destruction, NURE continues to fight for environment protection, preservation of precious resources, energy and the entire world around us. Our University is known worldwide for its numerous innovations in green technologies and for its careful attitude to the environment. One of the ongoing projects is the collection of recyclable materials, including waste paper, plastic and used batteries.
The ‘Batteries, Give Up’ campaign was launched with the participation of the student trade union and the NURE scientific library. In November 2023, more than 95 kg of used batteries were handed over for recycling.

Within the implementation of the ERASMUS +KA 2 CBHE project «Universities Communities: strengthening cooperation» («Universities and local communities: strengthening cooperation») UNICOM No. 101083077) an educational visit «Third Mission, What Steps and What Responsibilities: University of Genoa» has been held for representatives of universities – members of the consortium from May 26 to 31 at the University of Genoa (city of Genoa, Republic of Italy).

On 20 May, an expanded meeting of University Optimisation Committee was held as part of the ongoing seminar on achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals. The agenda included consideration and approval of changes to NURE’s internal rankings in 2024.
Acting Rector Ihor Ruban noted that NURE remains a leading Ukrainian university despite the war. In terms of the distribution of funding in 2024, NURE moved from 9th to 8th position among Ukrainian HEIs. And to maintain these achievements, stimulating and encouraging measures are needed. Among these measures is the inclusion of world rankings key indicators in NURE internal rankings.

Master’s student Oleksandr Kuznetsov, who already has a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, took part in the media project “Ambassador Students”, where he spoke about his type of activity and job.
Oleksandr works in the laboratory of orthotics and biomaterials at the Sitenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, which is the practice base of NURE Biomedical Engineering Department. Oleksandr Kuznetsov also works as a technical specialist in the orthotics and prosthetics project at Handicap International, an independent and impartial international aid organization that works with people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.

On 15 May 2024, the V. G. Korolenko Kharkiv State Scientific Library hosted an online conference «History of Aerospace Development and a Look into the Future» as part of the Aerospace Readings. The aim of the event is to popularise science and research into the history of the aerospace industry, exchange information and research results, solve urgent problems of the aerospace industry in Ukraine and the region, and raise the prestige of the aerospace industry in times of war.

On April 25-26, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Health of the Nation and Improvement of Physical Education and Sports Education” was held, organized by the Department of Physical Education of NTU “KhPI”.
The main organizers of the conference were the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”. The main goal of the conference is to exchange experience in training athletes, improve sports education and medicine to improve public health.

In order to improve cooperation with medical organizations, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics has signed an agreement with Medical Center “Brigid”.
The object of Agreement is mutually beneficial cooperation in scientific, educational and outreach activities. The cooperation is carried out in exchange of non-commercial information, training specialists who can be employed or provide services under civil law contracts in the field of Biomedical Engineering and Health Care, and NURE staff advanced training.
