On November 07, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine held a working meeting on the interaction of higher education institutions with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the field of international activities, attracting and supporting foreign students, expanding the presence of Ukrainian higher education institutions in the international arena, developing Ukrainian studies at foreign universities in partnership with Ukrainian higher education institutions, expanding opportunities for the implementation of joint educational programs, as well as international technical assistance and European integration.

Funding for NURE departments based on KPIs extended for 2025

At the meeting on 31 October 2024, the Academic Council of NURE supported the proposal of the Optimisation Commission and approved the key performance indicators (KPI) of departments for 2025. These KPIs, which include measures of academic excellence, research productivity, and international collaboration, will be used to determine the allocation of funds to each department.

The Commission analysed the changes to the formulaic distribution of state funds of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the results of applying the KPIs of the departments in recent years and concluded that the system of financing departments by Key Performance Indicators meets the objectives of sustainable development and should be continued.
The distribution of funding based on the KPI system remains an effective mechanism for motivating and rewarding a specific result. Considering new trends in global university rankings, particularly the TNE and QS, indicators of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals were added to the list of indicators.

Workshop “IML for a Model of the Dynamic Resource Management in High-capacity Optical and Radio Communications”

AI Department conducted an inter-faculty workshop on the analysis of interim outcomes of the secondments within the project “Deep Intelligent Optical and Radio Communication Networks” (MSCA RISE Horizon 2020). During the workshop, researchers and doctoral students of the AI Department shared their testimonials and results after their internships at the AI company “TurinTech” (UK).
In particular, participants discussed the conclusions on the analysis of the IML approaches which can be used for channel status and load forecasting and the list of IML algorithms that can be applied to address challenges in high-capacity optical and radio communications.

From 26.08 to 29.08, the Ukrainian Championship among adults and juniors and the Ukrainian Cycling Tourism Cup among juniors were held in Kropyvnytskyi. The Kharkiv region was represented by Kira Shuban (ITINF-24-1), who took 1st place in the Velocross course and 2nd place in the Complex Course at the Ukrainian Championship.
