The Department of Media Systems and Technologies is the educational and scientific structural unit of the University, which carries out educational, methodological, organizational and scientific activity in the field of publishing and printing production, as well as training specialists of various specialties of the University in the disciplines of the cycle of engineering and computer graphics, technical mechanics, geoinformation systems, training and professional development of scientific and pedagogical staff, educational work among students.
The department began its activities in 1944 as a department of descriptive geometry and drawing, later engineering graphics, engineering and computer graphics, and now called the Department of Media Systems and Technologies.
In 1997 the department began training specialists in the field of publishing and printing business and became one of the main departments of the university. For more than 20 years, the department has been training specialists for the publishing and printing industry and IT-sphere of our country.
From 2016 the department prepares bachelors of specialty 186 «Publishing and Printing», and masters in specialty 186 «Publishing and Printing» according to educational programmes: «Technologies of electronic multimedia editions», «Computer technologies and systems of publishing and printing production.
The department conducts training in this specialty in close cooperation with the leading universities of Ukraine: NTUU “KPI”, Ukrainian Academy of Printing, as well as with the leading European universities: Stuttgart Mediauniversitet (Germany), Warsaw Polytechnic (Poland), University of applied sciences (Kaunas, Lithuania), since 2017 signed a double-diploma agreement with the receipt of our European graduate students of the University of Economics (Bydgoszcz, Poland) for specialization “Information technologies in the media industry”.
Scientific directions of the department: technologies of electronic publications development, WEB-design, automation systems of printing production management, problems of digital image processing and color reproduction in polygraphy, computer graphics, geoinformation systems and technologies.
