The department educates students for the degrees:
- Bachelor degree, specialty 122 “Computer Science”, specialization “Informatics”;
- Master degree, specialty 122 “Computer Science”, specialization “Informatics”;
- PhD degree, specialty 122 “Computer Science”.
The Department of Informatics, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics has been training specialists in the field of information technologies for 25 years. All European universities programs include such a specialty “Informatics”. The curriculum of higher education at bachelor level at the Department of Informatics meets all novel requirements for specialists in the field of IT-technologies. The training program is aimed to qualify Researchers (Masters) and Software Developers (Bachelors) in the field of “Computer Science”.
While educational studies students receive basic training in mathematics and computer sciences, have an opportunity to study for the Master degree in Sweden and Germany Universities, participate in international projects and competitions.
Graduates in the specialty “Computer Science” (specialization “Informatics”) are able to apply modern information technologies for design and maintenance of information systems in various fields of science and business, work at Ukrainian and leading international IT companies, as well as to pursue their further scientific aims, continuing their studies as postgraduate students.
The main fields of specialization “Informatics” are modern technologies and programming languages, development of information and intelligent systems, mathematical and computer modeling of processes and systems of various nature, solving problems of forecasting, optimization, system analysis and decision making.
Particular attention is given to the combination of mathematical training of students with knowledge in the field of information technology, as well as the profile of scientific research: processing and analysis of complex multidimensional data and machine learning.
The department has been leading in the field of processing, normalizing and recognizing images for many years. Doctor of Technical Sciences, leading academic Professor Evgeniy Putyatin laid the foundation of the above scientific area.
The department conducts research work, maintains international relations with foreign partners, arranges scientific and professional workshops and supports students in their research.
