CoSMoS-NT

CoSMoS-NT (Computer Science Modular Joint Study Programs NURE–THWi) is an international Ukrainian-German project jointly implemented by the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (NURE) and the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau, Germany). The CoSMoS-NT project is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the framework of the German-Ukrainian University Network (Deutsch-Ukrainisches Hochschulnetzwerk, DUHN), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).

Project duration: 2025–2029.

Project Objectives
The primary objective of the project is to establish the first joint Ukrainian-German Bachelor’s degree programme in Computer Science that:
• harmonizes Ukrainian and European higher education standards;
• enables students to obtain a Joint Degree awarded by both partner universities;
• integrates Ukrainian higher education into the European Higher Education Area;
• prepares highly qualified specialists in modern information technologies and artificial intelligence to meet the demands of the international labour market.

Main Areas of Activity
The project focuses on:
• developing the joint English-taught Bachelor’s degree programme Applied Computer Science;
• aligning curricula, academic regulations, and assessment procedures between KhNURE and TH Wildau;
• establishing a joint quality assurance system;
• promoting academic mobility for students and academic staff;
• strengthening cooperation with European IT companies to provide industrial internships.

Study Program
Within the framework of the project, the joint English-taught Bachelor’s degree programme Applied Computer Science has been developed. The programme includes:

  • instruction entirely in English;
  • the opportunity to study the fourth academic year at TH Wildau (Germany);
  • industrial internships in European companies;
  • the award of a Joint Degree from NURE and TH Wildau;
  • two individual study tracks:
    • Automation and AI;
    • AI for Life Science and Medicine.

Expected Outcomes
The CoSMoS-NT project aims to:
• establish the first joint Ukrainian-German Bachelor’s degree programme in Computer Science;
• educate internationally competitive specialists in software development, artificial intelligence, computer modelling, and data analytics;
• expand academic mobility between Ukraine and Germany;
• build long-term partnerships between universities and the European IT industry.
