Nose breathing testing device – a device for testing nasal breathing, the author’s development of scientists of Professor Avrunin’s school became the first international patent of the BMI department, which was indexed in the Scopus scientometric database.

The authors of the invention set the task of creating a device for testing nasal breathing based on the principle of posterior active transplantation, which allows measurement of breathing parameters in physiological mode during physical training.
The device passed metrological attestation and preliminary testing in the otorhinolaryngology department of the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Hospital. 76 patients with various forms of nasal breathing disorders and without disorders were examined. The use of this device allows you to objectively assess the aerodynamic properties of the nasal cavity and increase the effectiveness of diagnosing diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

The results of research based on the use of this device made it possible to review and clarify some mechanisms of the mechanics of external breathing and to propose new diagnostic indicators, which as a result made it possible to publish more than 50 important scientific publications and obtain material for the publication of 6 monographs and a training manual. The design of the device and methods of data processing are already protected by 12 patents of Ukraine for inventions.
The use of this device allows you to objectively assess the aerodynamic properties of the nasal cavity and increase the effectiveness of diagnosing diseases of the upper respiratory tract. The application for international patent No. GI32116733 was submitted to the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office already during the war, in May 2022.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the department’s stakeholder Saleh Alofi Bander Ali, who is the founder of Development Visions Company for research and studies LLC, the duty and patent fee were paid.

We express our sincere gratitude for the support of scientific research and protection of copyright during the war to our partners and graduates.

This contributes to the recognition of the practical developments of the university’s scientists at the world level and indicates the development of the scientific school!
