On April 16 students of the hostels and employees of NURE took part in the subbotnik on their own initiative.
According to the official site of the mayor’s office, the subbotnik was organized under the initiative of Igor Terekhov, the Kharkiv city mayor. The students and the employees of the university were going to clean the territory around the dormitories and the university and to dig up the trees. However later, on the evening of the 15th of April the message from the mayor’s office appeared on the site of the city hall, that because of the more frequent bombardments in Kharkiv the subbotnik has been postponed for a while, as soon as the military situation will allow. However students and employees of 1, 2, 5, 7, 8 dormitories and employees of the university nevertheless joined the subbotnik and, taking into account the security situation and the system of notification about the rocket attacks, cleaned the territory.
Such initiative underscores the indomitable nature of our city of Kharkiv in the confrontation with the Russian aggressor, the thirst for victory and the establishment of peace in Ukraine.
