The NURE team consisting of Igor Barenblat, Valerii Hrynenko and Kostiantyn Denysov took part in the European Champions Tournament organised by the University of Naples in Cyprus, where the strongest teams from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland and other European countries competed. The head of the Ukrainian delegation at all competitions and the coach of the NURE team was Associate Professor of the PE Department O. Vechur.
For eight days, our participants demonstrated resilience and professionalism in difficult conditions, working 12 hours a day in a hot climate. The result of the competition was third place and bronze medals, which is a significant achievement for the Ukrainian team, especially given the difficult training conditions.
In addition, Ukrainian teams demonstrated a high level of skill at the world finals of the ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest), which took place in Astana. The NURE team is the youngest among the Ukrainian participants and gained invaluable experience that will be useful for future competitions. Ukrainian teams competed with universities from such cities as Melbourne, Singapore, Tokyo, Stanford, Cambridge and Paris.
The ICPC Challenge powered by Huawei has also become an important part of the world finals. In this additional competition, teams worked on real-world problems based on large language models (LLMs). This competition provided an opportunity to create an algorithm to distribute the model on a cluster of computers and achieve optimal use of cluster resources.
It is important to note that in a special competition for coaches, ICPC Challenge powered by Huawei, the coach of the Ukrainian delegation, a graduate of the Department of PI NURE Oleg Vallas won the absolute second place among the strongest coaches in the world from Cambridge, Harvard, Oxford and Massachusetts
