Students and staff of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics took part in the third walking tour along the route “NURE History Museum – Slovo House.”
The meeting began at the NURE History Museum, where participants learned about the artists of the Executed Renaissance – a generation of Ukrainian cultural figures whose lives and creative work were destroyed by the Soviet totalitarian regime. The discussion also addressed contemporary Ukrainian artists and creative personalities whose lives have been taken by Russia’s full-scale aggression.
Special attention was paid to the memory of Veronika Kozhushko – a poet, artist and NURE student, who was killed in a Russian strike on Kharkiv.
The tour then continued through the city. Historian and guide Valerii Leiko spoke about the political and cultural context of the 1920s, the circumstances surrounding the creation of the legendary Slovo House, and the talented Ukrainian writers and artists who lived there.
Participants learned more about prominent figures of 20th-century Ukraine, their creative paths, and both the tragic and remarkable chapters of their lives.
Such tours provide an opportunity not only to discover more about the history of Kharkiv and Ukrainian culture, but also to preserve the memory of those whose lives and creative legacy have become an integral part of Ukraine’s national history.
