On April 25, 2020, the team of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics KhNURE_NRG consisting of Oleg Wallace, Matviy Aslandukov and Andriy Shanin, led by Oleksandr Vechur, took part in the final of the Google Hash Code, which took place online.
More than 100,000 participants and about 11,000 teams from all over the world were registered on Google HashCode, only in Kharkiv more than 200 representatives of the IT industry were registered at the first stage.
To reach the final in the qualifying round it was necessary to get into the top 40 best. The idea of Google HashCode is simple – the organizers offer developers to solve a real engineering problem faced by the Google team in their practice. Participants can choose the programming language and all the tools to solve the problem. The main thing is to provide a ready-made solution to the problem. The more accurately the finished code solves the problem, the more points the team scores.
This year, in the final stage, the participants had to solve the problem of automating the assembly line of smartphones. Creating a smartphone is a complex process that involves assembling many components, including a screen, multiple cameras, microphones, speakers, a processing unit, and a storage unit. To automate the assembly of the smartphone, you need to use robotic hands that can move around the workspace of the assembly and perform all the necessary tasks.
The solution to this problem must be developed in four hours. Our team successfully coped with the task, showing a high result and took 18th place among all participants.
