On November 15, 2025, a solemn celebration of the 50th anniversary of the V.V. Popovsky Department of Information and Communication Engineering took place in the safe environment of KNURE. The celebration brought together faculty members and students from different years, as well as numerous guests. There was also an opportunity to join the celebrations online.
Rector Igor Ruban and First Vice Rector Andriy Yerokhin addressed the audience with welcoming remarks. They recalled the long history of the department, noted its significant achievements over the years, and emphasized the ambitious plans of NURE, which the department staff is involved in implementing.
Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies Arkady Snigurov wished the department staff further victories and achievements in the educational and scientific areas of work.
In their congratulations, the university and faculty leadership emphasized the important role of Professor Volodymyr Volodymyrovych Popovsky in the establishment and development of the department, whose name the department has proudly borne since 2018. In addition, five faculty members were awarded certificates of honor from the rector of KNURE for their outstanding work.
Colleagues from other departments and divisions of the university also joined in the festive speeches. Traditionally warm and friendly words were spoken by Larisa Chala and Anna Belyaninova from the benchmarking and web management department. The guests emphasized that the department is consistently included in the list of the best departments and, thanks to its numerous initiatives, makes a significant contribution to the formation of indicators that positively influence the position of KNURE in key international rankings – THE, QS, Webometrics, etc.
Dozens of friends of the department – employees of Ukrainian and foreign universities, stakeholders, and graduates of different years – recorded and sent their congratulatory messages, which were published on the department’s information resources and social networks.
During the event, the participants were addressed by the director of the Ukrainian State Center for Radio Frequencies (USCRF) Volodymyr Korsun (online), as well as the management of the USCRF branch – Yevhen Storozhenko (a graduate of the department) and Oleksandr Kolesnikov.
On behalf of the academic community, best wishes to the department staff were expressed by Serhii Harkusha, Vice-Rector for International Relations at Poltava University of Economics and Trade; Kostiantyn Vasyuta, Deputy Head of the Ivan Kozhedub National Air Force University in Kharkiv; Vladimir Lukin, Head of the O.O. Zelensky Department of Information and Communication Technologies at the M.E. Zhukovsky National Aerospace University “KhAI”; Pavlo Pustovoitov, Head of the V.O. Kravets Department of Information Systems at the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute.”
Sincere words of congratulations were also expressed by students enrolled in the department’s educational programs. The artistic groups of the NURE student club joined in the good wishes, performing very warm and touching songs. Yulia Antonova and Alexander Zakharchenko, soloists of the Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M.V. Lysenko also congratulated the department with songs.
