The history of the program of Cisco Network Academy in Eastern Ukraine has begun on November 3, 2004. On that day, a presentation of the Cisco Local Academy was held at the Department of Telecommunication Systems of KNURE (now the ICE Department). The main goal of implementing the program in the university is for students to obtain practical skills in working with modern network equipment in addition to theoretical knowledge. Teaching students modern technology began with a basic course of the Academy – CCNA (Cisco Certified Networking Associate). Over the next few years, the Academy received authorization for all courses of the Network Academy, such as Fundamentals of Wireless LANs, Network Security (2006), and then the most complex course of Network Academy – CCNP (2007). The same year, the Academy was authorized for courses in IT Essentials I, IT Essentials II.
For a significant contribution to the development program of the Cisco Networking Academy in Ukraine, on January 10, 2007, the Cisco Academy at the Telecommunication Systems Department of KNURE was awarded the status of the Regional one, and later, in 2012, the Academy received the status of the Instructor Training Center (ITC).
Nowadays, the Cisco Academy at the Department of Infocommunication Engineering is one of the largest academies in Ukraine and has authorization for all available courses. A number of Academy courses such as CCNA, Introduction to Cybersecurity, CCNA Security have been integrated into the educational process of the students at the ICE Department, and for international students teaching is conducted in English.
