Scientists from the Department of Biomedical Engineering – Professor Oleg Avrunin, Associate Professors Yana Nosova and Tetiana Nosova, together with industrialist Denys Kavun (a 2024 graduate of the Department’s Biomedical Engineering programme) received a joint copyright certificate for the work ‘Computer programme “Calculation of hosiery products” (“SOCKS v1.0″)” (authors Kavun D.V., Nosova Y.V., Nosova T.V., Avrunin O.G., Kopot M.A.).

The registered computer program is designed for the automatic selection of characteristics of hosiery products for the formation of a technological map (including the class of knitting machine, number of knitting rows in each section of the developed model to achieve the required linear dimensions of the product) based on three foot parameters: instep height, foot length and foot width.

The author’s certificate obtained for the work allows the production of hosiery models that have three sections of a special insert made with the addition of elastic, which creates a compression effect and a high-density fit to the body, thereby achieving a medical effect.

Compatible scientific activity of teachers of the department and industrialists contributes to the creation of real medical products, which were introduced into mass production. Samples of hosiery and crack products were made of ecological materials that are actively used for volunteer assistance, which, in turn, corresponds to the achievement of the 3rd and 12th goals of sustainable development of the UN-good health and well-being and responsible consumption and production.
