Qualification courses started at BME department

The BME department has started advanced training courses, which are held jointly with the specialists of the Institute of Medical Radiology and Oncology. S.P. Grigoriev National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

On February 23, 2021, in accordance with the order of the rector, training began at the refresher courses of the Center for Postgraduate Education NURE, organized by the Department of BME in conjunction with specialists from the Institute of Medical Radiology and Oncology. S.P. Grigoriev National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

At the beginning of the first lecture, the head of the BME department prof. O.G. Avrunin wished the participants a successful acquisition of new knowledge. He noted that for the first time in Ukraine on the basis of NURE courses “Radiation Protection and Safety in Medical Uses of Ionizing Radiation” are held under the IAEA international training program in English. The lecturer invited Ph.D., Assoc. kaf.  BME L.L. Stadnyk, who is the head of the Central Laboratory of Radiation Safety and Medical Radiation Dosimetry of IMRO NAMS of Ukraine, coordinator of IAEA programs in Ukraine.

The purpose of these courses is to train specialists with knowledge, experience and skills in the field of radiation safety when using ionizing radiation in medicine. Cadets master the skills to use standards and regulations in the field of radiation safety, to assess the doses of staff and patients in various types of X-ray examinations and procedures based on the results of dosimetric monitoring, to calculate inpatient protection of premises where radiation diagnostics and radiation therapy control and quality assurance of radiation therapy and radiation diagnostics procedures.

The group of cadets includes 10 students of 3-5 courses, including 8 foreign students. Also, in order to improve their qualifications, teachers from NURE joined the training. Head. department Stitsenko T.E. and Assoc. department BME L.A. Averyanova.

The scope of the program is 6 ECTS credits. Upon graduation on April 30, graduates of the courses will receive state certificates.
