On Support Of Artificial Intelligence In Prevention And Defense Of Crimes

On May 30, 2019, the guest of the program “Viddzerkalennia” was Dmitry Yuriyovych Uzlov, Head of the Department of Information and Analytical Support of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, Associate Professor of the Department of Artificial Intelligence of NURE.

In an interview with D.Yu. Uzlov described the joint scientific research of the Department of Artificial Intelligence of NURE and the Main Directorate of National Police in the Kharkiv region within the framework of an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation in the direction of: data mining on the basis of modern neurophase technology of computing intelligence, intellectual technologies in law enforcement activities.

The results of the research are implemented in the information-analytical complex – “RICAS – Realtime Intelligence Crime Analytics System”http://ricas.org

This is a unique intellectual criminal data analysis system that combines the basic and the most advanced methods and techniques of criminal analysis and analytical search in real time that can significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the disclosure of hot pursuits and crimes that have not been disclosed before.


RICAS allows you to perform the following types of analysis:

  • crime model analysis,
  • general profile analysis,
  • analysis of a specific case,
  • comparative analysis;
  • offender group analysis,
  • profile analysis;
  • investigation analysis.

Purpose of the system:

– Increasing the efficiency of using information records in the operational search activities of the Air Force, pre-trial investigation, public security activities;

– Reducing the reaction time to incoming information about crime and offenses and, as a consequence, more effective disclosure in hot pursuits;

– Crime prevention and prediction;

– Improving the quality and timeliness of managerial decisions of managers at all levels of responsibility.
