On 17 November 2025, NURE hosted an online meeting entitled «Dialogues on Tolerance» dedicated to International Tolerance Day.
The meeting discussed issues related to the culture of mutual respect, tolerance and accessibility:
- How to create an atmosphere of acceptance at the university;
- Metaphors of tolerance: garden (diversity), orchestra (cooperation), glasses (empathy);
- The importance of emotional intelligence.
Key thoughts from the meeting:
- «A person does not have to be like someone else to be worthy».
- «Don’t be afraid to be unusual – it’s normal».
- Respect for the experience, boundaries and opinions of others is a basic condition for cooperaotin.
The second part was devoted to the topic of accessibility.
The main conclusion is that tolerance is essentially a matter of perception. Accessibility is about action.
The meeting was organised by the accessibility service «NURE without restrictions» in conjunction with the NURE Museum, and was conducted by guest speakers from Kyiv: Natalia Syrotich, PhD, psychologist at the Caritas-Kyiv Charitable Foundation, art therapist, author of 16 books.
Yosafata Syrotich is an ambassador for accessibility in Ukraine as part of the nationwide social change campaign «Accessibility is when you can», initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
