On December 09, the All-Ukrainian Engineering Hackathon SmaRTF’2023: SMART MILITARY ELECTRONICS 2.0 was held at the Radio Engineering Faculty of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

The team of our University included a postgraduate student of the Department of MEEPP (faculty of ELBI) – Yevhen Levchenko, a postgraduate student of the Department of MTS (faculty of IT). MTS (faculty of IRTZI) – Oleksandr Datsenko, lecturer of the department. Olga Kravchuk, and Oleksandr Hnatenko, Head of the Department of FET (ELBI).

About 50 teams took part in the hackathon, of which 8 made it to the finals. During the hackathon, students of different courses presented 7 hardware projects. The NURE team took 5th place with the WarTechWizards project – Drone Finder Pro.

The Drone Finder Pro search device offers innovative solutions to the problems associated with finding lost drones.

The main features include:
1. Activation by the following scenarios: GPS coordinates, radio signals, altitude, and battery status.
2. The signal with the coordinates can be sent to a radio, mobile receiver or to the base station included in the package. The beacon also supports light (blue and IR) and sound indication.
3. Calibration and status check: Support for accelerometer and barometer calibration, as well as the ability to check GPS status, signal strength and other parameters, gives you confidence that Drone Finder Pro will accurately perform the task.

The system is based on ARM architecture and consists of 3 parts: a beacon, a base station, and a mobile application.

Business representatives and partners were: Renesas, Octava Defense, T-Spark, Epam and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
