NURE student won second place in the title chess tournament

Maria Berdnyk, a student of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, took part in the title chess tournament of international level “Young Talents – 2021”.

The event took place from June 21 to 30 in Kharkiv. The tournament was attended by 12 participants from 5 chess federations of the world: Poland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Among the players were members of national teams, winners of the Olympic Games, and champions of Ukraine of different years. In general, the tournament gathered the following team: 2 international grandmasters, 1 women’s international grandmaster, 2 international masters, 2 women’s international masters, 1 FIDE master. Competitions were held according to the standard rules of classical chess (1 hour 30 minutes each, +30 seconds after the move, starting with the first). According to the results of the competition, Maria Berdnyk (FIDE Men’s Master, Women’s International Master and Master of Sports of Ukraine), scoring 7 points, showed the best result among women and took 2nd place in the overall tournament.
We will remind that in chess Maria Berdnik there are:
– nine-time champion of Ukraine in the classic game in different age categories and fifteen-time among all types (classic, fast, lightning);
– bronze medalist of the World Chess Championship among girls under 16 years.
– Olympic vice-champion of the world on the fifth board as a member of the national team of Ukraine under 16 years.
– World champion among schoolchildren in the Ukrainian national team.
– winner of the World Championship among girls under 20 (the most prestigious youth competition);
– the only girl who has the title of male master of FIDE in Ukraine;
– the best junior of Ukraine under 20;
– reserve of the women’s national Olympic team of Ukraine.
She graduated from school with a gold medal, was awarded the prize “Best Student of 2019” and “Young Man of 2018 (athlete nomination).”
