28.04.2023

On April 24, a regular meeting of the GTUA project “Green Transformation of Ukrainian Universities” began at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, where Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics is represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Automation and Computerized Technologies, Professor Oleksandr Fylypenko and Associate Professor of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health Hanna Proniuk. The project also involves leading Ukrainian technical universities, the Ukrainian National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, and the Unite! Together, they are working to create green campus standards.

The workshop was organised within the framework of the «Green Transformation in Ukrainian Universities» project, which is run with funding from the National Agency for Academic Exchange. The programme was launched in January 2023 to support Ukraine’s academic community by engaging partner institutions in regular activities under Unite! Erasmus+ in the working area «An Open Innovation Community for Green Transition». Wroclaw Tech is the leader of this area.

Project objective:

– development of green standards for Ukrainian universities in the field of education and research in the field of engineering and technical sciences and development of their local version, taking into account the specifics of Ukrainian universities;

– development of a green campus model and implementation of standards in the field of scientific and didactic activities and campus functioning.

An equally important challenge is to establish ongoing cooperation between Ukrainian universities and the Unite! This will help in the process of rebuilding the country after the war and will be an important step in the process of integration with the European Union. A two-week course on ‘Green technologies for the development of Ukrainian society’ is planned. It will be attended by students from Ukrainian universities on the one hand and, on the other hand, by didacticians from universities affiliated with the Unite! The course will cover topics in disciplines that will be applicable to the reconstruction and modernisation of Ukraine’s industry and infrastructure.

The final objective is to develop and implement a system of micro-credentials for Ukrainian students on topics thematically related to green transformation.

The green transformation is an important step towards the formation of a quality higher education system in Ukraine in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
