On 29 August, the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine Who Died in the Struggle for Ukraine’s Independence, Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity, the nationwide initiative “Table of Remembrance 2026” will take place. It is organised by the Illia Hrabar Charitable Foundation together with the Memorial of Civilian and Military Victims of the War, “Memorial of Heroes”.
The Scientific Library and the History Museum of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics have joined this annual nationwide initiative to honour the memory of fallen heroes.
Representatives of the Library and the Museum have prepared symbolic remembrance tables dedicated to the bravest among us. They are decorated with sunflowers — the official symbol of the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine — a candle symbolising a life that was cut short, as well as cards and notes where everyone can write the name of a fallen hero.
It is a space where every visitor can stop for a moment and remember those whose lives were taken by the war — relatives, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Visitors may leave only a name or add a few words: a memory, an expression of gratitude or love. Behind every line is a human story and a priceless life.
The “Table of Remembrance” installation has been open since 27 August. At the Scientific Library, the remembrance space is arranged in Room 353, while another installation welcomes visitors at the entrance to the NURE History Museum from Spetspidrozdilu Kraken Street.
Every member of the University community has an opportunity to join the commemoration and leave the name of their hero.
The “Table of Remembrance” is a space we create together. It represents a culture of remembrance in which every life is honoured and every name is remembered.
Memory remains among us.
