NURE officially signed a declaration of accession to EIFL-Ukraine, a community working to promote open science, access to knowledge and support for libraries.
The EIFL-Ukraine Consortium was founded in June 2025 in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation with EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries). The EIFL-Ukraine Consortium is a voluntary association of universities and scientific institutions that seek to organise access to licensed electronic resources and develop open access and open science practices.
The activities of the EIFL-Ukraine National Consortium are carried out in the following areas:
- Provides free or low-cost access to electronic resources and technological information platforms, as well as the cancellation or reduction of fees for processing articles for publication in open access.
- Promotes the reform of national and international copyright legislation and supports librarians in becoming advocates for a fair copyright system.
- Aims to remove barriers to knowledge sharing by advocating for open access policies and mandates, and by building capacity to launch and sustain open access repositories and journals.
- Promotes the implementation of innovative library solutions and practices for community development.
The membership of NURE in EIFL-Ukraine opens up new opportunities for researchers, lecturers and students, promoting the development of scientific communication and expanding access to high-quality scientific information.
