The Faculty of Automation and Computerized Technologies of the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, the KITAR Department, joined the international project ERASMUS+, KA2 on electronic waste management “E-waste sustainable management practices for electronics Reduction And TECHnology” as an associated partner sustainability” to participate in partnership cooperation between universities of the European alliance UNITE!
Together with our consortium partners, we will work to increase awareness, knowledge and practical skills in the field of e-waste management through innovative educational and social initiatives, ultimately aimed at achieving the goals of the SDGs. The goal of the project is to create a joint 2-year master’s educational program in e-waste for the universities of the Consortium, which would form students’ competence to realize the role they can play in the labor market in the field of e-waste based on the conditions of sustainable development of society.
The main coordinator of the project is the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, the Republic of Poland, the project manager is Professor of the Department of Microsystems of the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems, Doctor of Engineering Karolina Laszyk, who explains: “Electronic waste, in simple words, is electronic modules with all their components, capacitors, transistors, resistors, etc. This also includes the batteries and the PCBs themselves, which are laminated epoxy substrates with tracks and solder pads.”The consortium includes Unite! partner universities, namely: Aalto University (Finland), Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain), University of Grenoble-Alpes (France), as well as Keio University (Japan), Monterrey Institute of Technology (Mexico), Lutsk National Technical University, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics and Odesa National University polytechnic (Ukraine). KhNURE will be represented in the consortium by the dean of the ICT faculty, professor of the KITAR department Oleksandr FILYPENKO.
The duration of the project is 3 years. Participation in the project will involve meetings for joint discussions with other partners about the content and content of the educational program, guest lectures and classes for students and teachers, presentations of own experience and proposals, summer school, development of microcredit courses for interested parties.
