On January 28, the British rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published the third release of the QS World University Rankings: Europe – 2026 regional rating. Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics entered the prestigious ranking for the third time in a row, ranking 561-570 among the best universities in Europe, 73rd among Eastern European universities, 10th among Ukrainian and 3rd among Kharkiv universities.
This result takes on special significance against the background of the ongoing war, energy challenges and difficult conditions in which Ukrainian science and education have to function.The indomitable NURE continues to maintain a high standard, demonstrating resilience and a desire for development.
In total, 57 universities from Ukraine were included in the rating – this is significantly more than in previous years, which indicates the increasing visibility and competitiveness of Ukrainian higher education in the European arena. Of all the universities of Ukraine included in the rating, not a single one has risen, 36 have fallen. 22 entered the rating for the first time. Front-line Kharkiv is represented by 9 universities.
The top ten of the rating looks like this:
- Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko – 288th place;
- Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute – 342;
- V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University – 346;
- Ivan Franko Lviv National University – 428;
- Lviv Polytechnic – 449;
- NTU “KPI” – 461;
- Sumy State University – 485;
- IAPM – 493;
- NaUKMA. – 511-520;
- NURE – 561-570.
NURE leads among Ukrainian universities in terms of Citations per publication and International Research Network – 1st place. Indicators in the field of International Student Exchange and Sustainable Development have also increased. The worst indicator – the ratio of teachers and students – 26th place.
