The Spanish Cybermetrics Lab has released the traditional January issue of the Ranking of World Universities. As of January 2021, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics ranked 8th among 316 Ukrainian higher education institutions and 2667th in the world, improving the result by more than 100 places out of 2770. In particular, according to the Excellence indicator, which shows the number of articles by university scientists, which are in the top 10% of the most cited by SSImago, NURE ranks 5th. According to the Openness indicator (citation according to Google Scholar profiles) – 8th place among Ukrainian free economic zones.
This time the organizers of the rating reduced the number of indicators to three. Webometrics takes into account external links to the site, the citation of the resource. Webometrics does not analyze the educational activities of universities in general, but the representation of universities in the Internet space. However, in terms of research results, SCImago data on publications in Scopus for the last 5 years and data on citations of open access publications from Google Scholar are taken into account, which allows to indirectly evaluate research achievements of universities.
To compile the rating, the developers rated the sites of more than 31,000 educational institutions around the world.
