Congratulations to Maksym Shpakovych, graduate of NURE, specialty 113 Applied Mathematics, with the successful defense of his dissertation at the University of Limoges, France.
December 2, 2022 at the University of Limoges (Université de Limoges), France, a graduate of NURE in 2019. specialty 113 Applied Mathematics Shpakovych Maksym Oleksandrovych successfully defended his dissertation on Applied Mathematics and Applications of Mathematics (Mathématiques Appliquées et Applications des Mathématiques) on the topic “Methods of optimization and machine learning for solving the problem of phase control of laser beams” / “Algorithms d’optimization and d’apprentisage automatique for the control of phases of a laser beam”.
Maksym’s research path began at the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics at the Department of Applied Mathematics, where, under the guidance of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Maksym Viktorovych Sydorov, in 2017 he won the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers and successfully defended his bachelor’s thesis.
In 2018, according to the program of international academic mobility and double diploma, which is available in NURE, Maksym got the opportunity to study at the University of Limoges in France under the program “Master ACSYON (Algorithmique, Calcul SYmbolique et Optimisation Numérique)” in parallel with his master’s degree at the Department of Applied Mathematics of NURE. After successfully passing the exams and internship at the research center INRIA (Institut national de recherche en informatique et en automatique), Grenoble, France, in 2019 Maksym successfully defended his master’s degree at the University of Limoges, as well as with honors – master’s thesis at NURE.
Since 2019, Maxim as a postgraduate student at the University of Limoges for three years was engaged in research activities in the field of optimization algorithms and machine learning methods for solving applied problems in optics.
Despite a busy professional life, Maksym has not lost touch with his Alma Mater and continues to take an active part in the life of the Department of Applied Mathematics of NURE, in particular, during the revision and updating of educational programs in the specialties 113 Applied Mathematics and 124 Systems Analysis and career guidance work with entrants.
Congratulations on the successful defense of the dissertation and wish you further successful scientific path and new professional achievements!
