NURE explores European experience in implementing the third mission of universities in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals

Within the framework of the international project Erasmus+CA2 ‘Universities – Communities: Strengthening Cooperation’, the delegation of NURE visited the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague.

The visit lasted from 01.10 to 04.10.2024 and was coordinated by Roubík Hynek, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences and leader of the Biogas Research Group, who presented the main provisions of the National Strategy for the Development of the Third Mission of Higher Education Institutions and highlighted the best practices of cooperation between European higher education institutions in the development of the third mission on the example of the Czech University of Natural Sciences in Prague.

As a result of fruitful work during the practical sessions with the participation of leading experts from the Czech University, the NURE team had the opportunity to work out the current challenges and opportunities for the development of the third mission of universities in the EU and Ukraine, improving university governance, strengthening ties with territorial communities, developing international cooperation, etc. in the context of achieving and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.

The overall goal of the project is to enhance the social role of universities by strengthening the interaction between universities and communities, which will lead to the development of national policies to support the third mission of universities to ensure social cohesion, adaptability, resilience and prosperity in Ukraine.
