NURE ENERGY SAVING PROGRAM

25.04.2023

Since 2008, the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics has been carefully implementing the energy saving program.

Regarding the preservation and optimization of the use of heat energy received by NURE from KTM, the following facts can be cited.

To date, in all educational buildings and almost all dormitories, wooden windows of outdated construction have been replaced with plastic ones with energy-saving packages, which, according to experts, saves heat costs by 10-15%.

After the examination of the heating system (CO) of the buildings at 14 Nauka Ave., a program was drawn up for the reconstruction of individual heat points with the transition from a dependent heat supply scheme to an independent one using efficient Alfa Laval plate heat exchangers with forced circulation of the coolant along the subscriber’s circuit. Also, multi-loop adaptive and neurofuzzy microcontroller regulators of coolant flow were used, in the development of which employees of NURE, in particular, the department of KITS (former computer department) directly participated in the development of JSC “Spivdruzhnist-T” within the framework of the FP6 program.

EC FP6 CONNECT framework project “Development of advanced controllers for economic, safe and reliable production, contract No.: 031638 with JSC Spivdruzhnist-T”.

  • Development of advanced controllers for economical, safe and sustainable production management.
  • Development of controllers based on robust models for hybrid and continuous dynamic systems.
  • Development of models of reduced dimensionality.

The implementation of these measures made it possible to save up to 30% of the actual costs of the heat carrier – up to 1.5 Gcal/h during the heating season, which is 180 days* 24 hours, which on average, taking into account the increase in the price of the heat carrier, is 180 days* 24 hours*1.5 Gcal*1000 hryvnias/ Gcal = 6480 thousand UAH. for the heating season.

The heating systems of dormitories No. 5 and No. 8 were also reconstructed to a mixed one with forced delay of the coolant and the use of microcontroller regulators of the coolant consumption, which made it possible to save up to 20% of the actual consumption of the coolant – up to 0.15 Gcal/h during the heating season.

Financial costs for the reconstruction of individual heating points paid off within one heating season.
