On December 10, a meeting of the commission to develop a new version of the collective agreement was held. The work aims to introduce decent work standards and a sustainable economy under martial law.

The meeting was chaired by Larisa Karpova, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Corporate Work and Administration, and Andriy Frolov, Chairman of the primary Trade Union Committee. Serhiy Borysenko, Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Organisation of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine, joined the dialogue, emphasising the importance of social partnership between the administration and the labour collective represented by the trade union committee.

The key task of the commission is to adapt the document to the challenges of wartime with an emphasis on protecting the interests of employees. The discussion focused on specific mechanisms for ensuring decent working conditions, including issues of additional leave, bonus systems, working week duration, principles of remuneration, and updating the tariff scale.

This work is a practical step by the University towards achieving SDG 8, “Decent work and economic growth”. The creation of a new Collective agreement aims not only to protect the rights of the employees in extraordinary conditions but also to lay the foundations for recovery and sustainability, promoting a safe and stable working environment for all University employees.
