On June 24, during the Global Sustainable Development Congress in Jakarta, Times Higher Education (THE) announced the results of the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.
Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (NURE) once again confirmed its presence in the global sustainability ranking, placing in the 1001–1500 band among 1,646 universities from 116 countries worldwide. Ukraine is represented in the ranking by 55 higher education institutions.
The ranking evaluates universities’ contributions to achieving the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as their engagement with society, partnership development, social responsibility, and impact on sustainable community development.
The THE Sustainability Impact Ratings methodology is based on the assessment of four key areas of university activity: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. A distinctive feature of the ranking is the requirement for documented evidence of initiatives, projects, and practices that contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as an independent verification process.
NURE achieved the following results across individual Sustainable Development Goals:
- SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: 801–1000.
- SDG 4 – Quality Education: 1001+.
- SDG 5 – Gender Equality: 601–800.
- SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: 801–1000.
- SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: 601–800.
- SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: 301–400.
- SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: 601–800.
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: 1001–1500.
NURE’s strongest performance in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 was recorded for SDG 10 “Reduced Inequalities”, where the University ranked third among Ukrainian higher education institutions. Other areas demonstrating particularly strong performance include SDG 3 “Good Health and Well-being” and SDG 5 “Gender Equality”.
NURE’s results in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 reflect the University’s consistent commitment to sustainable development, partnership building, social responsibility, and innovation. Particularly notable are the achievements in the areas of Reduced Inequalities and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, which demonstrate the successful integration of the University’s academic, research, and societal missions.
These results serve as an important benchmark for the further implementation of NURE’s Development Strategy and for strengthening the University’s contribution to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for making it possible to educate, conduct research, develop, and build Ukraine’s future.
