Meeting of the trade union committee to discuss the solidarity action of ukrainian trade unions in Kyiv

11.12.2019

On November 29, 2019, a meeting of the trade union committee was held to discuss the solidarity action of Ukrainian trade unions in Kyiv and Kharkiv.

On November 14, 2019, activists of Ukrainian trade unions and territorial trade unions, representatives of labor collectives, trade union workers, went to a rally in Kyiv with demands for the draft State Budget 2020 and in support of the trade union draft Labor Code.

Educational problems and warnings about cutting education funding were voiced from the rostrum before the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by speakers from the Trade Union of Education and Science of Ukraine.

On this day, the Parliament planned to consider the draft State Budget of Ukraine for 2020, which does not take into account the proposals of trade unions on the need for adequate funding for education, the budget sector, energy and industry.

According to the unions, this will put workers and their families on the brink of survival, lead to mass layoffs and a new wave of labor migration from the country.

The authorities have already amended a number of laws depriving civil servants and public sector employees of their rights to social protection upon their release.

A neoliberal draft of the Labor Code is also being prepared for consideration by Parliament, which contains discriminatory norms on the labor rights of employees and threatens their collective protection.

The primary trade union organization of the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics took part in the protests and supported the demands for remuneration of pedagogical and scientific-pedagogical workers of Ukraine.
