On July 16-17, 2025, the national Mechaton UA 2025 took place in a hybrid format – a two-day marathon of innovative solutions featuring 10 student teams and over 50 participants from various regions of Ukraine. The event was organized by the team from Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (NURE), with Sumy National Agrarian University acting as co-organizer. The event was part of the European educational project UniCom, which aims to strengthen the social role of universities in local communities.
The goal of the mechaton was to create practical solutions at the intersection of technology, sustainable development, security, inclusion, agriculture, and tourism that can be implemented in communities to foster their recovery and sustainable development.
Students of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics once again demonstrated their high level of expertise. The SQUAD team from NURE won the special award for “The best technical implementation”.
Winners of Mechaton UA 2025:
1st place – the «GreenMindLab» team from Sumy National Agrarian University for their project «Development of an information subsystem for recording environmental protection measures».
2nd place – the «Vitryla» team from Vinnytsya National Pirogov Memorial Medical University for the project «Development of the chatbot «Meteobot».
Other teams received special awards:
- Audience Award – the team Flexible Light, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
- The best presentation – the team Simply, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
- The most creative solution – the team Agrinova, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
- The most socially significant project – the team Tyl, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the team MSPU, Bogdan Khmelnitsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University.
- The most innovative approach – the team UnityLab, Dragomanov Ukrainian State University.
- The best idea for a software product – the team Innovation Shield, Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The projects were evaluated by an authoritative international jury consisting of professors and researchers from partner universities in the Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, and Ukraine, representatives of Ukrainian communities, and experts from leading IT companies.
Mechaton UA 2025 became a vivid example of how Ukrainian youth not only generate innovative ideas but also offer real solutions for the resilient reconstruction of the country. The event demonstrated the power of cross-sectoral collaboration between education, business, and communities in shaping a new wave of leaders for the future of Ukraine.
