Kharkiv celebrated the anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.

On February 15, the administration and students of NURE together with representatives of local authorities and self-government, law enforcement agencies, public organizations, and also the leadership of Kharkiv Regional State Administration took part in the events dedicated to the memory of those who fight at the territory of other States.  30 years ago the last column of Soviet troops left the territory of Afghanistan.

The war in Afghanistan was a full – scaled armed aggression against the sovereign Afghanistan under the pretext of fighting the Mujahideen. It began in December 1979 with the attack of special forces of the KGB of the USSR on the Presidential Palace in Kabul and the murder of the President and his entourage and the introduction of a “limited contingent” of the Soviet army.  The war, according to official Soviet data, continued until the withdrawal of the bulk of Soviet troops on February 15, 1989.
