Ihor Ruban, NURE First Vice-Rector, participated in the regional forum “Innovative Kharkiv Region: People-Education-Business-Governance”

On April 24, under the project ‘BizON – Promotion, Transformation and Inclusive Development of Business Education in Selected Regions of Ukraine’, implemented by the Centre of Public Expertise with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine and financial support from the Government of Japan, a forum “Innovative Kharkiv Region: People-Education-Business Governance” was held.

The Forum’s main organiser was the Centre of Public Expertise (Kyiv), with the participation of the Association of Private Employers, Kharkiv City Council and Kharkiv IT Cluster NGO.
The purpose of the forum was to identify the primary needs and opportunities for the development Kharkiv region based on human, technical and financial potential, available and desired infrastructure for learning, self-realisation, entrepreneurship and innovation, and for launching and implementing promising projects.
The main topics for discussion were:
  • What is a winning economy? What should Ukraine’s economy be like to win? What role should education, knowledge, and innovation play in growth? What should cooperation be for survival and development? What should governance be for a winning economy?
  • What kind of education does Ukrainian business need: training of qualified personnel, business education programmes, retraining and professional development programmes, educational resources for the development of entrepreneurial skills.
  • Business investment in human capital: cooperation between business and educational institutions, private educational initiatives, staff retention and development.
  • Transformation of traditional education: new curricula, personnel ‘on demand’ from business, implementation of dual education, joint projects and initiatives with business.
At the Forum, Igor Ruban participated in the panel discussion “Education for the Victory Economy”, where he focused on the importance of lifelong learning. He presented the Reboot veteran hub project and NURE’s experience in reintegrating veterans into civilian life.
The Reboot Project will allow NURE, business and local authorities to cooperate in the interests of sustainability, business development and local economy.
