The educational process in the discipline “Physical Education” at the University includes students of 1–5 years annually.
The main task of the Department of Physics and Fitness is:
- Promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
- Involving as many students as possible in systematic physical education and sports.
- Formation of skills and habits to independently use the available means of physical education and sports in everyday life for the purpose of health improvement, physical improvement, useful and cultural leisure time.
- Promoting the choice of sports specialization and achieving results in the chosen sport at the level of regulatory requirements for sports qualifications.
- Preparation of public physical education assets of the educational institution.
- Providing active recreation.
- Improving knowledge, skills, motor, moral and volitional qualities acquired in the process of mastering the compulsory course of physical education, and on this basis – ensuring students’ readiness for better mastery of the material of the state program.
The form of organization of physical education at the University is traditional (https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/rada/show/v-454729-15#Text) and is included in the curriculum for the training of higher education specialists.
Classes in physical education and sports are held for 1–7 semesters for the first (bachelor’s) level and for 1 semester for the second (master’s) level of higher education.
The department employs teachers: masters of sports, master of sports of Ukraine of international class, candidates and doctors of science in physical education and sports, associate professors and honored coach of Ukraine: http://pht.nure.ua/staff.
Specialists in therapeutic physical education work with students with individual needs in a special medical group (SMG), providing comfortable and safe training conditions for everyone.
Students with appropriate sports training can attend sports improvement groups in various sports: http://pht.nure.ua/sportivni-sekcii.
University teams take part in competitions among higher educational institutions of the Kharkov region, all-Ukrainian competitions, world and European championships.
The University constantly holds competitions in various sports, in which 1st to 6th year students take part.
