Department of Physical Education and Sports (PES)

The educational process in the discipline “Physical Education” at the University covers more than 7000 students annually.

The main task of the PhES department is health-improving training of future specialists and ensuring the possibility of realizing the needs of students in the field of physical education and sports during the entire period of study.

The form of organization of physical education at the University is traditional (https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/rada/show/v-454729-15#Text) and is included in the curriculum for training higher education specialists.

Physical education classes are held for 1-7 semesters for the first (bachelor’s) and 1 semester for the second (master’s) levels of higher education.

The department employs 23 teachers – Masters of Sports, Masters of Sports of International Class, Candidates of Science, Associate Professors and Honored Coaches http://pht.nure.ua/staff.

In practical classes in physical education, students have the opportunity to choose a sport according to the schedule.

For students with a weakened state of health, a special medical group (SMG) is organized.

On the basis of the University, students of the Kharkov State Academy of Physical Culture undergo practical training in a special medical group (SMG).

Students with appropriate sports training can attend sports improvement groups from 25 sports http://pht.nure.ua/sportivni-sekcii.

The combined teams of the University annually take part in the Student Spartakiad among the higher educational institutions of the Kharkov region.

Our university took part not only in city, regional and All-Ukrainian competitions, tournaments and championships, but also in the World and European Championships.

The University Spartakiad is held annually between the faculties of sports. In addition, competitions and the Rector’s Cup are held annually in many sports, summing up the “Best University Athlete” in several nominations, as well as tournaments between dormitories.
