On October 1, Ukraine marks the Day of Defenders of Ukraine – a day of gratitude to everyone who, throughout different periods of our history, has fought for the freedom, independence, and sovereignty of our country.
This date is symbolically connected with the Feast of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God and the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks, reminding us of the centuries-old tradition of defending Ukrainian land and of the courage and resilience of generations who stood for Ukraine’s right to be free.
Today, we express our deepest gratitude to the servicemen and servicewomen who are defending Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Their courage, endurance, and dedication enable our country to continue its struggle for the present and the future.
We thank every defender who stands up for Ukraine, protects our people, cities, and communities, and fights for the right of future generations to live in a free and independent country.
We bow our heads in memory of those who gave their lives for Ukraine. Their sacrifice will forever remain part of our history and our collective memory.
Our deepest respect goes to all servicemen, servicewomen, and veterans. We wish strength, resilience, and a safe return home to everyone who is defending Ukraine today.
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
