Workshop 31.05.2019

The British edition “The Times Higher Education” has reported on our participation in the THE University Impact Rankings pilot project in the form of charts.

The new Times Higher Education rating embodies the ideas of the “third mission” of universities, showing how high the university’s influence on society is. The leading universities are not only the center of education and science but also a source of cultural formation, have an impact on the economy, the level of human capital, innovative potential, the development of public institutions, the transfer of new technologies and knowledge to the business community, act as partners in the context of international relations.

The goals of sustainable development are the United Nations set of 17 international cooperation goals to be achieved by 2030. CSDs are aimed at promoting health, combating inequalities, poverty, hunger and the effects of global climate change, improving access to education, drinking water, labor and affordable energy, and promoting ideas of social justice and peace.

NURE provided data with the evidence in 6 sections out of 11 from the general list of LSU related to the activities of the university.

THE had an overwhelming response in the first year, with over 560 institutions participating and 466 ranked in the overall ranking.

The organizers of the rating noted our contribution to providing inclusive and equitable quality education and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities, gender equality, good health and well-being. (Goal 3: Good health and well-being for people, Goal 4: Quality education, Goal 5: Gender equality). It is gratifying to know that one of the leading international rating agencies has appreciated our work in these areas. Our efforts to ensure employment and economic growth, partnerships for sustainable development (Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Goal 17: Partnerships for the goals) are also not overlooked. The most modest indicators we have for the development of industrialization and innovation activities.

The high level of our teachers, active international activity, a quality of scientific publications are the components of our success.  The entry into THE Impact Ranking is a great achievement for us and one of the steps towards achieving the ambitious goals. We plan to continue and expand participation in this initiative.

In order to continue the conversation, next year we share key dates
