The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has issued an order № 1182 On approval of the Methodology and criteria for gender audit of educational institutions
The purpose of the gender audit is to assess the state of equal rights and opportunities for women and men in educational institutions, identify existing problems, identify ways to reduce the actual inequality of women and men, and raise awareness of workers on gender mainstreaming in their activities.
In this regard, we offer
Tasks of NURE to promote gender equality.
Support for public initiatives on gender equality:
- Interact in the development of corporate programs and solutions with external experts and stakeholders.
- Involve employees in corporate volunteering for the benefit of public organizations and institutions that address issues in the field of gender equality.
- Provide informational support to initiatives that address gender equality issues.
Encouraging equal participation in child rearing and homework:
- Implement a policy or program to support fatherhood and motherhood.
- Implement a campaign dedicated to responsible parenthood, equal involvement in parenthood and a promotional campaign for men’s decree.
- Create a feeding area or a parent’s room or children’s room.
- To promote the experience of equal involvement in the upbringing of the child, role models of responsible parenthood and fathers who have already exercised the right to maternity leave.
Support for women’s representation and leadership:
- Conduct a gender audit in accordance with the Recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science.
- Increase the percentage of departments, divisions, centers run by women.
- Increase the percentage of women’s representation in Scientific and Technical, Scientific, Scientific and Methodological Councils and other governing bodies where men currently dominate.
- Promote the representation of women in international, public and scientific projects, strive to ensure gender balance in the submission of such projects.
Combating discrimination and the spread of gender stereotypes:
- Establish a separate gender equality policy or code or integrate gender mainstreaming into existing documents.
- Increase the representation of women in positions that are stereotypically perceived as “male” and ensure the principle of gender-neutral employment.
- Conduct training for media, communication and press service staff on gender equality.
- Publish at least 5 articles on breaking gender stereotypes or highlighting their negative impact on education, society, health, security and the economy.
- Implement an on-air, digital or outdoor campaign against gender stereotypes.
Combating domestic violence:
- Conduct training for staff and students on combating and correctly covering the problem of domestic and gender-based violence.
- Develop a program to counter cases of violence and support injured employees.
- Inform about hotlines for support of victims of domestic violence.
- Create an essential or digital product that promotes zero tolerance for violence, destroys myths about the possibility of its justification and counteracts victimization.
