On 12 April, a regular meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals seminar was held. NURE’s tasks for their implementation.
The topic of the seminar was the discussion of the draft NURE policy on equality, diversity and inclusion. According to the order No. 75P of 20.03.2023, a commission was set up at the University to work on a draft regulatory document that will approve guidelines for equality, acceptance of diversity and inclusion.
Olena LINNIK, a member of the working group, Associate Professor of the Department of BMI, Assistant Rector for Educational Work, made a presentation. The proposed project emphasises that the principles of equality, acceptance of diversity and inclusion are key to the university’s work. The university recognises the human right to be free from discrimination and unequal treatment, which is enshrined in international legal acts and Ukrainian legislation.
The need to make changes at the regulatory and operational levels in order to eliminate restrictions on access to services for people with any form of disability is noted. The principles of equality, acceptance of diversity and inclusion apply to all aspects of NURE’s work – from internal communications to educational activities. NURE opposes and makes efforts in its activities to eradicate discrimination based on age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, race, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, partnership status, pregnancy or parental status, disability, health status or any other personal status.
The draft policy aims to define the guiding principles and values applied at NURE.
At the workshop, it was decided to discuss the draft Policy with the general public and submit the results to the Academic Council for approval.
