The course “The Sustainable Development Goals – A Global, Transdisciplinary Vision for the Future”

The course “The Sustainable Development Goals – A Global, Transdisciplinary Vision for the Future” provides a historical overview of how sustainability has been understood, as well as a detailed introduction to the SDGs – what they are, how progress can be measured, and how the SDGs are relevant to the management of global systems that support humanity. The course also examines how different social actors respond to the SDGs and implement them.

All 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are essential for sustainable development. Still, SDG 13, “Climate Action”, is generally perceived as the most urgent in terms of the need for its rapid implementation on a global scale. Therefore, SDG 13 is given special attention. During the course, you will gain up-to-date knowledge about the current understanding of human impact on Earth at the planetary level. The course also examines progress towards establishing global governance of human interaction with the climate system within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) framework.
