On 9 December, the first stage of discussions took place regarding the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Department of Biomedical Engineering at NURE and the French organisation HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL – Humanity & Inclusion with the aim of obtaining specialised equipment for prosthetics/orthotics and bioprinting.
The following representatives of the university took part in the meeting: Vice-Rector for Scientific Work at NURE – Yuriy Romanenkov; Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at NURE – Murad Omarov, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering – Professor Oleg Avrunin, Professor of the Department – Dmytro Snizhko, Associate Professors of the Department – Tetiana Nosova and Karina Selivanova.
Handicap International Humanity & Inclusion was represented by: Alice Belliot, Physical and Mental Health Project Manager, and Alexander Kuznetsov, Senior Technical Specialist in Prosthetics and Orthotics, who is a second-level (master’s) student in the Biomedical Engineering educational programme.
Issues related to the draft Memorandum of Cooperation and the department’s acquisition of specialised equipment for prosthetics/orthotics and bioprinting, namely components for training students at all levels of higher education, were discussed.
Cooperation with international organisations carrying out humanitarian missions in Ukraine in wartime contributes to the expansion of new relevant scientific areas in the field of prosthetics/orthotics, improving the quality of the educational process, and achieving SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being.
