On March 12, the Department of Biomedical Engineering hosted a career guidance event for students of the Dentistry Department at the Kharkiv Regional Medical Professional College of the Kharkiv Regional Council.
In the first block, students visited the Sports Medicine and Physical Rehabilitation Laboratory. Participants tested an intelligent robot designed for physical rehabilitation and functional recovery, and familiarized themselves with rehabilitation equipment, smart scales, a 4D platform, and an intelligent treadmill used to assess patient physical condition and recovery.
The second block was dedicated to the Medical and Biological Research Laboratory. Senior Lecturer Yevhen Chuhui provided a practical demonstration of laparoscopic simulators and held a speed test competition among the students. Associate Professor Karina Selivanova conducted masterclasses on ultrasound diagnostics of artificial organs as well as facial skin and scalp diagnostics. Professor Oleh Avrunin led a masterclass on capillaroscopy.
The third block introduced participants to the 3D Technologies Laboratory. As part of international projects, the department received new equipment for creating inclusive educational video content, including a 3D camera, an inflatable screen, specialized glasses for viewing 3D video, and other production gear. Professor Oleh Avrunin conducted a masterclass on 3D body scanning, while Associate Professor Karina Selivanova led a masterclass on endoscopic examinations using CT-based models of upper respiratory tract anatomical structures.
The fourth block took place in an informal networking format. Participants asked questions, engaged with faculty, and took photos with educational models and a robotic cat.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering expresses its sincere gratitude to Tetiana Umanska, Head of the Dentistry Department at the Kharkiv Regional Medical Professional College, for her assistance in organizing the meeting and providing the opportunity for an in-person interaction with students. We also extend our gratitude to the college instructors for their cooperation and ongoing support of career guidance initiatives.
Such events foster the popularization of biomedical engineering, familiarize future specialists with cutting-edge medical technologies, and unlock new opportunities for further education and professional development.
