The “Local Area Network Management Center” Sector performs the following functions:
- Implementing the policy for connecting computing devices of University staff and students to the University’s local area network, and regulating access to the Internet for these users;
- Coordinating all structural units of the University in building, modifying, or dismantling segments of the University’s local area network;
- Allocating IP addresses among participants of the University’s local area network;
- Maintaining up-to-date information on the topology of the University’s local area network;
- Administering all telecommunication nodes of the ICC;
- Monitoring the status of all nodes connected to the University’s local area network within its area of responsibility;
- Interacting with designated personnel in departments responsible for the operation of local servers;
- Monitoring and evaluating the quality of Internet connectivity services provided by external vendors under contracts with the University;
- Consulting University staff on the operational status of their respective network segments within the University’s local area network.
