As part of the series “Outstanding Events and Figures in the History of Science and Technology”, a roundtable discussion “Alfred Nobel – an outstanding engineer, inventor and philanthropist” was held in the reading room of the Department of Scientific and Information Support of Innovative Processes of the V.G. Korolenko Kharkiv State Scientific Library.
The host of the event, Professor Vasyl Rossikhin, one of the stakeholders and partners of NURE, made a speech about the activities of Alfred Nobel and the history of the Nobel Prize.
The Head of the Department of BMI, Professor Oleh Avrunin, presented a lecture on the significance of the Nobel laureates’ contributions to world science and focused on the importance of their research, particularly in biomedical technologies.
On 27 October 1895, Alfred Nobel made a will, according to which his savings were transferred to the Nobel Prize Fund, the most prestigious annual award for outstanding scientific research, revolutionary inventions or significant contribution to culture or society.
The event focused on promoting scientific research among youth and contributing to achieving sustainable development goals.
