March 30, 2022 marked the 85th anniversary of the former rector of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics,
Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Honored Worker of the Higher School of Ukraine, Academician of the Academy of Engineering of Ukraine and ANPRE, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Valentin Sviridov.
Valentin Sviridov in 1973-1994 was the head of the Department of ACS, Dean of the Faculty of Control Systems, in January 1984 he became Rector of KhIRE, General
Director of the Delta Research, Training and Production Association at KhIRE. Under the leadership of Professor Sviridov in the mid-1970’s a new scientific direction was formed “Automated control and management of complex systems”. He has supervised many important research works, prepared more than 40 candidates of sciences, 6 doctors of sciences. Valentin Sviridov was the Chairman of the Board of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Kharkiv, Vice-President of the Board of Rectors of Ukraine, and received government awards.
In 2007, the Kharkiv Regional State Administration established a scholarship named after V.V. Sviridov in the field of informatics and computer science for outstanding scientists and young scientists.
One of the lecture halls of the University of Radio Electronics is named after Valentin Viktorovich Sviridov.
