As a part of the joint scientific work of the Department of Computer Integrated Technologies, Automation and Mechatronics, Robotec.ua and Oleksiy Reznichenko, field tests of the Mars robot-rover movement mechanics were conducted in the courtyard of the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics to implement the task and to check the possibility of using the “unearthly” design of this mobile platform. There are plans to create an intellectual robot to perform a wide range of tasks: weed or insect control, harvesting, plant care.
At this stage, there is no control electronics, as the main purpose is to determine the appropriate design and movement mechanisms of the platform.
The first experiment showed that such a structure is well suited for uneven soil covered with vegetation.
The next step is to create an intelligent software module for weed detection, and in the future – the design and manufacture of a mechatronic manipulator for the destruction of unwanted plants in the field.
